Advertising Snipes

A method of attracting attention and supporting a headline is using what advertisers call SNIPES. They are different to a sub-head which supports the headline, in that they provide an additional call to action. Snipes are often set at an angle across the top of the advert and are a quick way of offering an explanation as well as creating a sense of excitement and immediacy.

Examples of snipes are:

SEE IT NOW!
BIG VALUE, LOW PRICE!
INTRODUCING!
SEE US AND SAVE!
SEE THEM HERE!
NOW ON SALE!
HERE NOW!
ALL NEW! ALL HERE!

CHECK THIS!
DRIVE YOURS TODAY!
PUT YOUR NAME ON ONE!
COME ON OVER!
BUY NOW AND SAVE!
HURRY IN!
DON’T WAIT!’
